  7. Introduction
  8. ------------
  9.  
  10. The Microsoft Windows 3.1 Driver Library (WDL) contains device
  11. drivers for printers, displays, and audio devices. These drivers
  12. enable these devices to run with Microsoft Windows operating
  13. system version 3.1. This library also contains a few additional
  14. items, such as Access Pack software and a Novell NetWare upgrade.
  15.  
  16. As new and updated drivers become available, they will be added
  17. to the WDL.
  18.  
  19. This WDL.TXT file includes a list of all the devices supported by
  20. the drivers in the WDL and instructions for downloading the
  21. drivers. This file is updated on a regular basis.
  22.  
  23. NOTE: Everything included in this library is intended for use
  24. with Windows version 3.1.  It is NOT RECOMMENDED that software
  25. from this library be used with Windows version 3.0.

  27.  
  28. Instructions for Downloading
  29. ----------------------------
  30.  
  31. 1. Locate your device in the listing included at the end of this
  32.    WDL.TXT file. Note the name of the file listed next to the
  33.    device. You need to download this file from your downloading
  34.    service.
  35.  
  36. 2. If you are downloading to a floppy disk, you need to have a
  37.    formatted, blank disk. If you are downloading to your hard
  38.    disk, create a new subdirectory in which you will place the
  39.    files.
  40.  
  41.    CAUTION: Do not download files directly into your WINDOWS
  42.    directory. Doing so could overwrite files essential to the
  43.    proper operation of your system.
  44.  
  45. 3. Follow the downloading procedure used by your downloading
  46.    service. The file you download is the executable or program
  47.    (.EXE) file that you identified in step 1. This file contains
  48.    all the files you need to support your device.
  49.  
  50.    Download the .EXE file to your floppy disk or to the new
  51.    subdirectory you created on your hard disk.
  52.  
  53. 4. Change to the floppy disk drive (or the subdirectory on your
  54.    hard disk) that contains the .EXE file. At the MS-DOS prompt,
  55.    type the filename, and then press ENTER.
  56.  
  57.    When the .EXE file finishes running, all the files you need to
  58.    support your device, such as a .DRV file and an OEMSETUP.INF
  59.    file, are set up. You are also provided with a .TXT file that
  60.    contains instructions for installing the device drivers (or
  61.    other software) and a licensing agreement.
  62.  
  63.    If you have problems extracting files, try downloading the
  64.    files again.
  65.

  67.                    WINDOWS DRIVER LIBRARY CONTENTS
  68.                    ===============================
  69.  
  70. An asterisk (*) next to the item indicates that a version of this
  71. driver is available on the 4/06/92 disk release of the Windows 
  72. Driver Library.  If the 'File Last Updated' date is 4/6/92, the 
  73. driver has NOT been updated since the disk release.  A date 
  74. later than 4/6/92, indicates that the driver being distributed 
  75. on the electronic WDL is more current than the version of the 
  76. driver that is on the 4/6/92 disk release.
